Review of Panasonic TC-23LX60 23-Inch LCD HDTV with HDMI Connection
I just bought this TV after looking around at similar LCD TV’s from Sony and others.I’m extremely pleased with the picture quality.I have a larger DLP unit in the living room that I love, and and this TV’s picture quality is very comparible in overall quality. One thing that attracted me to this unit was the extremeley high contrast ratio.I occasionally take a TV outside to watch NFL football and the picture on my old TV would get very washed out.The high contrast ratio of this particular LCD TV enabled it to perform very well under bright light, plus it was lighter to move than my old TV and of course was high definition! We used it outside last weekend and I have to say the picture quality was even better than I had hoped. The viewing angles of this TV are impressive – much better than my DLP TV, especially in the vertical direction.I can move all around the room and the picture quality remains outstanding.
I found that both High Definition programs and regular programs display very well, which is important considering how many shows are not yet broadcast in high definition. The remote control and on screen functions are simple and clear, and like many remotes, this one can be used to control both my TV and my cable box.My only wish is that you could turn both the TV and cable box on/off with one button press instead of four (like can be done with most aftermarket universal remotes that can record macros). [UPDATE: After a couple of weeks I bought the inexpensive "ONE FOR ALL" 6-device universal remote that CAN turn both on/off with one button press]
There’s not a lot of bass from the speakers, but since this Panasonic TV was for a smaller room than my DLP, booming sound was not important to me.Of course the unit has the standard hook-ups for an external sound system if you want bigger sound.
The only photos of the Panasonic that I saw on the web showed the Panasic from a straight-on front view. This makes it look like the TV is almost all shinny silver (a color I’m not very fond of). When I unpacked the TV I was pleased to see that the sides and back of the unit are all a dark grey color and it looked a lot better than I had expected.
I highly recommend this TV!
